Sam Quarry's daughter Tippi was raped and has been in coma, due to the unqualified abortion clinic doctor. Sam with an ordinary strong father has planned the revenge for his daughter for the long time very methodically. Sam abducted the First lady's niece Willa after Willa's birthday party at the Camp David the presidential retreat. Also, Sam abducted Diane. Later, the DNA test reveals that Diane is the biological mother of Willa and the President of the U.S. is the father of Willa. Also, in the end, it reveals that the President was the rapist of Sam's daughter.
Just like other Baldacci's book, there are two separate unrelated stories going on at the same time. One was the kidnapping and the other one was the murder of Michelle's mom.
Michelle Maxwell and Sean King together is the private detective team and they both are the formal Secret Service Agents. They are now to solve the case for the First Lady Jane. I was very shaken by Jane Cox, how woman can be that cruel and cunning. Also, how brutal the ambition can lead one person as in the President Dan Cox's life story. In this story, he and Jane are the worst pricks, I could ever encounter. I pray I never see people like that; people with fame and money yet nor conscience, or honor.
At the end, some justice has been served, yet the poor bystander Ruth Ann died and so is the victim Tippi. Sam did his revenge, yet all can not be justified, even with his death, while he was saving Willa and even with his strong love toward his baby daughter Tippi. All the stories of corrupted president Cox comes out very meticulously with the reporter Marty of the Washington Post at the end. Yay!!!
How they solved the crimes reminds me of Sherlock Holmes. I enjoyed thoroughly!
Note to myself: Daryl: Sam's son and the farm boy Gabriel and his mom Ruth Ann,
